  • Ethanol is the result of the fermentation of sugars and starches by yeast
  • It is a clear, colorless, flammable, oxygenated fuel
  • Contains 35% oxygen by weight
  • Has an octane rating of 113
  • Has a short half life: 26 hours vs. 500 years with MTBE
  • Expected results from Fagen/ICM plant:

    One bushel of corn yields
    • 2.8 gallons of ethanol
    • 18 lbs. of dried distiller grain
    • 16 lbs. of carbon dioxide 
  • Does not pollute ground water*
  • Enhances engine combustion*
  • Reduces air emissions*
  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions*
  • Only fuel that is CO2 positive*
  • Consumes 20% more CO2 in its creation than is emitted during the manufacturing and burning process*
